The Gongpit is a viewdata BBS that works in a very similar way to the Prestel online system that was operated by the GPO, and later British Telecom, in the UK. It runs custom software and is fairly well-featured as these things go.
It contains hundreds of pages of text and graphics, including news, a user-to-user messaging system, forums, opinion polls and such like.
You can access The Gongpit by pointing your viewdata terminal client at bbs.gongpit.com:2323.
